#MeToo - A Physical, Psychological, Emotional drain

From Hollywood to Tollywood there is a #MeToo and I wouldn't be wrong if I say, it's everywhere. Even in the Parliament House of India, as quoted by a lawmaker, Ms. Renuka Chowdary.  #MeToo is not just about Casting Couch or a rape but it has different forms. Last week, happened to be there to witness the mental trauma of two younger women, who, received threats of losing their jobs for their "POOR" performance.  I wasn't shocked but wanted them to come up with the full story.  One of the women (she's just 23), who is from the same community, which her "43 plus, single, short and stout" boss belongs to, received "Love Proposals" in different ways.  Messages every morning and evening encounters while leaving the office and at last she had to respond.  All she said was, "You're like my father and how can you do this to me?".  Enough for the boss to rate her performance and she was rated "POOR."  She was insulted in front of the whole staff and received ultimatum, either to improve her "POOR" performance or to "LEAVE."

This is a #MeToo, without any physical thing but the psychological and emotional trauma that one experiences drains the energy out of them.  Women at workplaces are falling victims to such #MeToo more, than of Hollywood-Tollywood type.  It's unfortunate, less attention is paid towards this - both from the media and the workplace authorities.

In the above case, the woman decided to QUIT (as it happens in many cases).  Guess what next for the boss?  He started luring another woman with "Proposals."  He may fail, she may quit. And thecycle continues.  The only solution is to retort and pull such guys into public.  Better late than never.
